“AI Photography does not exist !!! ”
I know its a bold statement, but one I found true while listening to Michael Donny's podcast. There, I learned of 'Promptography' from Boris Eldagsen, a term new to me. Independently, I had already coined 'Artography'. Both terms, discovered in parallel, challenge the conventional label of 'AI Photography', offering a more nuanced perspective on the evolution of art in the digital era.
'Artography': More Than Capturing, It's Creating
Far from being a mere extension of traditional photography, 'Artography' represents the fusion of creativity and technology. It's the art of using AI algorithms to generate visuals that extend beyond the physical world into realms of imagination and digital innovation.
'Promptography': Crafting the Unseen
The story of Boris Eldagsen, an artist who won an award for his AI art but chose not to accept it, embodies the essence of 'Promptography'. This form is not about capturing reality but about creating visions through the skillful crafting of AI prompts—a celebration of imagination's power when combined with technology.
Understanding These New Art Forms
While traditional photography is about capturing what exists, 'Artography' and 'Promptography' represent the creation of the nonexistent. They challenge us to rethink the boundaries of art, merging human creativity with the capabilities of AI.
More Than Terms, They're Artistic Declarations
Embracing 'Artography' and 'Promptography' means recognizing a unique collaboration between human creativity and AI. They’re not just alternatives to 'AI Photography'; they're a leap forward in the way we conceive and interact with art.
